5 Amazing Boutique Hotels in Athens

Acropolis views, rooftop bars, fashion designer décor, you’ll locate all this and more inside the new wave of boutique inns cropping up all around downtown Athens.

The Psirri neighborhood, with its graffiti-lined alleys and pavement café scene, is the heart of the brand new scene in Athens.

But there are also lots of stylish boltholes around Koukaki, Kolonaki, and the Historical Center, where historic homes are being transformed into cutting-edge hotels within walking distance to the most important archaeological sites.

Here’s my pick out of the satisfactory design luxury boutique hotels in Athens, Greece.

1. AthensWas

The discreet front to AthensWas lies at Dionyisiou Areopagitou, certainly one of the most suitable streets in Athens.

Inside, interiors are a beautifully composed collection of conventional designer pieces, including leather-based armchairs by Le Corbusier, sculptural chairs by Konstantin Grcic, and lamps by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

Every room and suite has a smart marble balcony where you may order à la carte breakfast at no extra charge.

The sense is a fine-dining restaurant on the roof, where the Acropolis views compete with clever, boundary-pushing Greek dishes,

including scorpionfish balls with sea urchin and ouzo foam, from 200 euros.

Right on Areopagitou Street, 300 m from the Acropolis Museum.

2. The Foundry Hotel

Vertical gardens, quirky industrial design, and a fantastically landscaped roof terrace give this former foundry the edge over the other boutique lodges popping up all over Psirri.

Built in 1930, the building has served as a stable, a Greek font foundry, and a theatre, and the intriguing backstory and delightful bone structure shine through in its design.

Original capabilities include uncovered brick-and-mortar ceilings and floor-to-ceiling Crittall windows.

You’ll spend a maximum of some time in the large flats or, in warm weather, putting out on the extraordinary roof terrace, admiring the Parthenon peeking through the plants.

3. NEW Hotel

This metropolis center hotel, situated off the main city artery, near the town’s leafy National Gardens, incorporates the long-standing history and modern, hip lifestyle of Athens through its beautiful, contemporary design and resourceful spaces.

Celebrated sibling designers Fernando and Humberto Campana of Brazil created the lobby’s ‘ favela’ walls by incorporating vintage wood and furniture pieces recycled from the preceding hotel’s remnants.

Creativity follows through in every room, such as bathrooms, hallways, restaurants, rooftops, and bedrooms, where each nook breathes a modern-day layout in an interactive, amusing, and colorful way.

4. Coco-mat Hotel Athens

A calm oasis within the affluent heart of Athens.

This eco-friendly lodge is a showcase for Coco-mat, a purveyor of all-natural beds to many of the world’s excellent hotels.

A top night’s sleep is guaranteed.

The vibe is greater Scandi-chic than conventional Greek, but the whole thing, from the coconut-fiber mattresses to the linen drapes, is hand-made in Greece with the usage of herbal materials.

In Athens’s coronary heart and the fashionable district of Kolonaki, cutting-edge city-dwelling joins in concord with the snug hospitality that COCO-MAT offers!

In an outstanding building designed by architect Emmanuel Lazarides, known for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier outside the Greek Parliament, urban cosmopolitanism has defined its status as a hospitality destination in Athens!

5. innAthens Hotel

In[n]Athens, the coronary heart beats in its atrium.

The Athens sun is abundant, and our atrium is a nice place for our visitors to experience it.

Full of plant life and “hidden” corners, this atrium is the region to be.

After a full day at the Acropolis Museum or after spending the day shopping on Ermou str., nothing can be more captivating than relaxing in our atrium.

A walk via a marbled arcade ends in the somewhat ‘hidden’ front of this boutique hotel.

Before the buildings were converted into InnAthens, they took on many forms, together with a safe residence for refugees at the turn of the century, a girls’ college, and a hostel.

It stands these days as a boutique asset that hasn’t lost its past in the work of Greek architect Dionysos Sotovikis, who combined careful restoration with a modern-day, minimalist touch.

There are 22 rooms, including Classic Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, and Suites; some have balconies that overlook the courtyard.

5+1. 18 Micon Str

This abandoned warehouse has been repurposed into an intimate motel with a cool, businesslike feel. Built by a tool trader in the 1950s, the corner constructing the intersection of two pedestrian streets nevertheless has a particularly business vibe.

All flinty grey, faded marble, and weathered terracotta, the design will pay homage to cement, brick, and wood (even though the wallpaper is extra urban-sublime than business-grit).

The complete ground is an open-plan lobby-cum-living-room with a communal desk for socializing over complimentary coffee.

Suites and lofts on the 1/3 and third floors are undoubtedly huge, opening onto generous balconies with daybeds for soaking up the sunshine.
